Feminism is faulty

I see that Vicky Pryce, ex-wife of former UK Energy Secretary Chris Huhne, claims that “most women go to jail because of men” (Irish Examiner, Oct 7).

Feminism is faulty

In making this extraordinary statement Ms Pryce shows herself to be a true feminist. Those who think that feminism is just about women’s rights are wrong. Rights without concomitant responsibilities is a core value of feminism. The idea that women should be held accountable for their actions in the same way as men is anathema to feminists. It is probably only a matter of time until the National Women’s Council demands that women who are sentenced to prison should be entitled to nominate a man to serve their sentence for them.
