Scrap pension subsidies and restore equity
This massive burden on our non-existing monetary resources continues unabated.
Since Mr Kenny assumed office the pensions industry has received €10bn from the Exchequer.
They continue to enjoy a field day while pensioners have no protection, despite the recent European Court of Justice ruling in the case of the Waterford Crystal workers and the 1982 EU Directive, which successive Governments have failed to transpose.
I sincerely hope that the next budget will stop the rot by at least abolishing the so-called “tax relief” on all pensions contributions and restore some equity to our tax code.
Let’s have some of that radical reform we hear so much political rhetoric about.
