Christy Moore is in tune with the times

Christy Moore’s new single, ‘Arthur’s Day’, is a timely warning in song from one of Ireland’s greatest balladeers of the mayhem that lies ahead on Sept 26th if action is not taken by responsible authorities, while there is still time.

The Irish Examiner kindly published my letter on the subject of Arthur’s Day last October, under the headline ‘Diageo should pay to clean up our streets on Arthur’s Day’ — but it was after the mayhem. I hope, and I know, people will sit up and take notice of Christy Moore.

I am reminded of the words of another song: “They didn’t listen then — perhaps they’ll listen now.”
