Don’t give up on highlighting corruption

I would appeal to Dick Barton (Letters, Sept 14) to reconsider his decision to refrain from commenting on the actions of governments, politicians, banks and business.

Don’t give up on highlighting corruption

The public needs to be constantly reminded of the incompetence, inefficiency and corruption that exists in areas of society.

The illegal acts of governments and politicians need to be highlighted until each are held responsible and accountable for such actions.

In particular, human rights/Geneva Convention violations, ie killing of unarmed civilians, men women and children, rendition flights, torture, illegal detention, and here at home — the bank crisis, the FÁS scandal, to mention but two.

People need to keep on highlighting the problems and demand action, otherwise they will just die away, just like the FÁS scandal.
