Don’t cave in to RTÉ

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte’s caveman remark is unprofessional, arrogant, and not conducive to debate.

As to the new broadcasting charge/tax: In this time of austerity, there can be only one solution: shut down public broadcasting. We can do without RTÉ and its well-paid staff. Just follow the Greek example.

RTÉ is a commercial station, and we can do without it. With ‘war’ having been declared on working people since Sept 2008, when that small group of men bailed out the banks, and with mortgage arrears and evictions, high unemployment and emigration, we might be living in caves soon enough.

Then, at least, there would be hope that we can better our lot.

Problem is that we have so few caves, and Pat Rabbitte would still want us to pay a cave tax. No thanks.
