Only solution is to replay semi-final

The resolution of the outcome of the recent Minor All Ireland Hurling semi-final between Limerick and Galway trundles on through a convoluted appeals system, which is now in the middle of its third phase.

Only solution is to replay semi-final

An examination of the facts and the application of a little commonsense would provide a satisfactory resolution. The disputed “point” has now been universally accepted to have been a valid score. Even Hawkeye technology confirms this. Consequently, Limerick could legitimately claim to have “won” the match in real time, which would render the playing of extra time irrelevant.

As events transpired, Galway claim to have “won” the match in extra time. Should either team win the All Ireland final, their victory would be hollow and for ever tainted. The only commonsense approach is a replay.
