Best left to the schools
I refer to the young Muslim pupil who is seeking permission to wear the hijab to school and Boyd Barrett’s comparison of it to wearing a crucifix.
Only religious orders wear crucifixes; school pupils do not. School issues are best left to the school board, who have years of experience in dealing with pupils, uniforms and rules.
May I suggest that he would instead concentrate on championing the causes of immigration, unemployment, homelessness, suicide, bullying and depression.
So, deputy, get off the school bench and get down to the ground with the rest of us.
