Best left to the schools

I am bewildered by the involvement of Richard Boyd Barrett TD in a school issue.

I refer to the young Muslim pupil who is seeking permission to wear the hijab to school and Boyd Barrett’s comparison of it to wearing a crucifix.

Only religious orders wear crucifixes; school pupils do not. School issues are best left to the school board, who have years of experience in dealing with pupils, uniforms and rules.
