So-called ‘keyboard warriors’ are just wimps

A KEYBOARD warrior is someone who uses a keyboard to vent their rage.

My frustration with them started last year during the Olympics when Team GB diver, Tom Daley, and teammate, Pete Waterfield, missed out on a medal in the synchronised, 10m diving.

A Twitter user posted to Daley: “You let your dad down, i hope you know that.” The Olympian’s father, Rob, had died from brain cancer. Daley tweeted: “After giving it my all... you get idiots sending me this...”

It is disgusting of people to send mean stuff like that. What does it do for them?

Does it boost their confidence, empower them? You hurt someone’s feelings, and that makes you feel good? All I can say is, ‘buddy, you have problems’.

After matches, be it GAA or soccer, idiots abuse players who have performed badly.

A typical comment would be ‘delighted to see [insert player’s name] play bad, someone should have broken their legs’.

Shut up for a minute and think: the player already feels bad, they know they had a bad game, and some stupid keyboard warrior kicks the person while they’re down. I’m not saying no one can judge a player, but do not be cruel or stupid.

I won’t write on Twitter to say how crap they played; they’d need encouragement, like ‘next game don’t worry’.

It’s fine to discuss players, but don’t abuse them.

Keyboard warriors should be scrutinised; they can’t be let run free. Nobody should endure abuse, such as stupid people saying ‘I hope you die’.

These people are getting away with it. Why should they be free to just put people down or hurt people’s feelings? It’s disgusting and frustrating that they are not punished.

It’s a hate crime and someone is left upset, sad, or even suicidal. Should that be allowed?

If I abused someone in person and they committed suicide, honestly, I’d rather if I rotted in jail, because that is what I would deserve.

Keyboard warriors wouldn’t even have the courage say it to a person’s face.

These keyboard warriors are worthless lowlife who are enraged by their weakness and they feel the need to abuse other people.

It is a crime to threaten someone in person, and we need to really take seriously harassing someone on the internet.

So, what exactly are we going to do about it?
