Disrespecting Crean

Recently I paid a visit to the graveyard of an icon of the 21st century, Tom Crean, the famous Antarctica explorer, in Ballynacourty near Annascaul in Co Kerry.

To my utter shock I was dismayed to see how his grave was in such disrepair. I was hoping to see an interpretative centre and all the manifestations of someone so famous.

I left Annascaul with a touch of sadness that Ireland could not remember Mr Crean with a bit more respect.
