Alcohol ban is ridiculous

This latest nonsense about stopping alcohol sponsorship of sport is yet another sad attempt by useless bureaucrats to justify their salary.

Alcohol ban is ridiculous

Don’t allow me to buy it on the way to visit distant friends because I am leaving the house at 8am, demand identification from my 20-year-old daughter, refuse to allow older people to drive safely to their local (their only social contact) and back with three pints over an evening, increase prices, etc, etc.

None of this will decrease consumption or alcohol-related illnesses but is guaranteed to increase crime and waste thousands of hours of garda time. Perhaps a dunderhead somewhere in government thinks it might be a good idea to ban alcohol completely. Just as they banned marijuana (which never killed anybody), making handsome profits for organised crime and wasting more hours of garda time.
