The controversy regarding the possible ex-communication of TDs who vote in favour of legislating for the X case raises some questions.

Were people like the Brendan Smyth and other religious paedophiles ex-communicated? Were the people who decided to move such predators from parish to parish, thus allowing them to abuse again and again, denied Communion?

Were the people who instigated and oversaw the victims signing pledges of secrecy regarding the sexual abuse they had suffered turned away from Communion? Legislation for the X case is long overdue.
