Looks like I will be voting FF the next time

I am one of the 40,000-plus voters who have signed a pledge, never again to vote for Fine Gael if that party reneges on its pre-election commitment with respect to the X case.

Looks like I will be voting FF the next time

There is, unfortunately, nothing in the published heads of bill to make that pledge redundant. As things stand, therefore, I will be voting Fianna Fáil in future elections — although the leadership of that party seems determined to make me vote instead for pro-life independent candidates, and that might still happen.

Individual TDs and senators across the party divide, have shown great courage and integrity on this matter, but the quality of leadership has been woeful. We are hearing a lot of guff about “not playing politics” with this issue, but that is precisely what the party leaders are doing. Both Enda Kenny and Mícheál Martin were opposed to X case legislation until recently, but now that an incessant pro-abortion media campaign is starting to bear fruit, they have changed their position.
