Fair-weather republican

I am insulted by the Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin’s comments in Bodenstown this weekend, especially since they were said at the grave of the father of Irish republicanism, Wolfe Tone.

Fair-weather republican

It is insulting to republicans when Micheál ‘turns on’ the republican mantra. Criticising Sinn Féin in the North is hypocritical, as his party have no involvement in the government there. How many Fianna Fáil candidates will stand in the next elections in the North?

How many have ever stood in any election in the North? It is easy for Fianna Fáil to comment from afar, when they should be supporting Sinn Féin on the border poll and united Ireland debates. I would suggest that Micheál looks inwards at his own party, and either removes the republican logo, or seriously starts working to live up to it.
