Elite hoarding money

The news that some Irish names are listed amongst those hoarding vast amounts of wealth in offshore accounts should not be a shock.

It merely reflects the fact that the elite in this country are fully engaged in the international practice of tax avoidance and deception carried out by a wealthy elite and facilitated by the light touch regulation of free market economics.

It highlights the fantasy of trickle-down economics expounded by the disciples of Milton Friedman and Thatcher.

Despite this, advocates of the free market continue to hold societies over a barrel with the threat of capital flight if taxes are raised. Extortion is thus legitimised and given a veil of respectability.
