On a ‘pint’ of order — alcohol’s not healthy

Tuesday’s Prime Time discussion on sports sponsorship by alcohol companies, largely between TD Roisín Shortall and an industry representative, totally missed the main point of the argument.

That is that if alcohol is closely associated with sport, it starts to be seen as a good thing, possibly even healthy. I enjoy some alcohol, but healthy it is absolutely not. The disingenuous spokesman from the industry must have loved the fact that Ms Shortall and Leo Varadkar apparently do not understand that simple fact. To link booze with anything that is good for humans should absolutely be banned.
