It is a horrendous insult to every taxpayer that 19 of our ministers were jaunting around the world on St Patrick’s Day, and beyond.

We, the ordinary citizens, are left shivering in sub-zero conditions, scraping together a few euro to pay for the privilege of living in our own houses. Did St Patrick know where Indonesia, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia were? I bet he did not.

On reading the list, the one big surprise was that Michael Noonan was overlooked, and wasn’t sent to Rome to give expert advice to our new Holy Father on how to rectify the alleged errors in running the Vatican Bank. The right man for the job, it proves that experience is not a criteria for travel. Big Phil take note.
