Gay prohibitions

Two recent editions of your paper informed readers that laws are being proposed to prohibit the possible dismissal of teachers whose sexuality may be at variance with the ethos of religiously based schools.

Gay prohibitions

Minister Alan Shatter was quoted as saying that a balancing of rights would be needed as schools also have a right to maintain their ethos.

Two brief reports mentioned that Limerick is making a bid to host the Gay Games, while ‘Gloria’, a Gay and Lesbian choir, is to perform in Dublin.

What I can’t figure out is why it appears to be acceptable to hold sporting, musical, etc events based on sexuality (other than heterosexuality), while mention of a ‘Straight Games’ or an exclusively heterosexual choir would lead to howls of protest?
