Concert put Rathkeale in a better light

At Christmas time, Rathkeale becomes the centre of attention as members of the Travelling community come to the town for the Christmas season and this can be portrayed in a negative way by the local and national media.

Concert put Rathkeale in a better light

We, the students of Colaiste na Trocaire, decided to aim this attention towards a spectacle, something that showed Rathkeale in a much better light and for what it really is, something that would positively display this family community. Our music teacher Ms O’Brien came to us with an inspirational idea, a Christmas concert in Rathkeale’s own St Mary’s Church, — ‘an Irish Christmas’ featuring Moya Brennan accompanied by her band and the renowned choir of Colaiste na Trocaire.

I was asked to do a reading of The Nativity for this concert and I felt honoured to do so, but when the time came to witness all the rehearsing, all the hard work and imagination put into action, I was humbled at how amazingly our choir performed.
