Team players

Michael Noonan recently attributed the phrase “we took one for the team” to Ronald Reagan in justifying the actions of successive Irish governments.

Ronald Reagan, however, also stated “that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learnt that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.”

Perhaps the latter quote can be more appropriately applied to the actions of the current Government and its predecessor.
