Exposing children to unwarranted hazard

Further to Rosie Cargin’s letter on the serious risks to general health from the fluoridation of our water supplies (Letters, Feb 14), I would like to know why the Minister for Health continues to sanction the compulsory addition of this poison to our drinking water when topical application of fluoride via toothpaste and mouthwash is the most effective way to bring about the intended dental benefit?

Exposing children to unwarranted hazard

Fluoride has minimal effect on teeth once it is swallowed, but the chronic poisoning and systemic damage occurs after prolonged ingestion.

Continuing with this controversial practice, abandoned in almost every other EU state, is therefore surely inexcusably exposing the Irish population, and especially our children, to an unwarranted hazard.
