Illegally adopted are entitled to the truth

Theresa Tinggal’s letter on illegal adoptions (Jan 19), in response to Conall Ó Fátharta’s article in the Irish Examiner, (Jan 14) made sobering reading.

As a person who was illegally adopted, and who bears the scars of this uncivilised and inhuman practice, I know too well what Theresa has endured to learn about her roots. As chairman of the Bethany Survivors Group, I have heard from survivors from around the world in the last 14 years trying to get their information from PACT.

Alas, PACT’s great skill is to make sure they tell the survivors nothing. Last week, I had three new people still experiencing this inhumanity.
