Toss of a coin for Rory

With respect to golfer Rory McIlroy’s predicament of having to decide whether to play for Ireland or Team Great Britain in the 2016 Olympic Games, there is a very simple solution to his problem.

Toss a coin in public, in front of TV cameras, the press and fellow golfers and let chance decide his fate.

Whichever side wins should be grateful, the losers should be glad they were at least considered.

The simple, unbiased and unemotional nature of this method would ensure that there could be no finger pointing, no sectarian undertones or any other negative opinion levelled at young Rory.

Do it Rory, and look forward to Rio’s Olympic Games.
