Coveney mission

Minister Simon Coveney was certainly a busy man over the Christmas break.

On Dec 28 he came out to say that child benefit should be reformed further next year to make sure that rich families don’t receive the same payments as lower income families.

On the same day he said that the Croke Park agreement should be reviewed to allow increments to be delayed

And then on Jan 3 he said that former senior bankers should be jailed and that retired politicians should forfeit their pensions. Three populist outbursts in the space of a week are surely no coincidence. Enda Kenny should watch out! Mr Coveney is clearly a man on manoeuvres.
