Scrap past speeding points and start again next month

With respect to the recent penalty points scandal, if there was any conscience or decency left anywhere in high office there is a way for the powers that be to save face and right the wrong that has been done to nobodys (ie people who know nobody in high places or aren’t famous).

Scrap past speeding points and start again next month

All penalty points given to people for speeding offences since the scheme was introduced should be quashed with immediate effect. All fines paid should be kept and used as intended. Then, from January 2013, everybody who commits a motoring offence and earns penalty points should get their due allocation. This should apply to everyone — politicians, rugby players, singers, gardaí and all ordinary Joe Soaps.

This would negate expensive enquiries and investigations on behalf of the Garda authorities and political office. Everyone could start on a clean sheet and be assured that the forces of law were using a level playing field.
