Behaving responsibly

I listen to people on the media complaining about the mayhem and violence on the streets of Dublin with shootings and knifings a daily concern.

I also listen to the people in Belfast complaining about the damage done to the commercial life of that city by rioters.

I listened this morning to an RTE person gloating about the ‘success’ of the recent series glorifying that violence.

I also listened to spokespersons of political parties in the North defending the actions of the rioters and the actions of those who provoked them.

What do we expect when so-called civilised society behave in such an irresponsible manner?
