We heard recently that one million people watched the final violent episode of a violent series on TV.

It also told us that demand for a brand of handbag costing more than €1,000 has doubled.

In the lead-up to a festival of a religion which preaches love of neighbour, humility, meekness and justice, that says something about us. Are we hypocritical or what?
