Wealthy farmers do not deserve large grants

Irish farmers receive €1.2bn in grants each year.

This is completely unwarranted. Some farmers deserve grants. The wealthy farmers definitely do not. Many receive grants in excess of €500,000.

This money should be directed to schools, hospitals and carers. The old, the young, the sick, the vulnerable and the unemployed, especially the young jobseekers, should receive this money.

Farmers are prominent in the tax dodging stakes.

Low paid workers in the private and public sector are funding handouts to the wealthy farmers.

Politicians should have the courage to stand up to them. Perhaps Mr Gabriel Gilmartin and John Bryan would indicate what their annual income amounts to?
