Celebration of Liam O’Flaherty’s writings

A local initiative to celebrate and honour Liam O’Flaherty, one of Ireland’s greatest polemical short story writers, will stage an informal event in Galway’s City Library on Thursday, Nov 29, between 6 – 8pm.

Celebration of Liam O’Flaherty’s writings

Margaretta D’Arcy and myself are arranging this get-together in the hope of encouraging those who have recollections, letters or mementoes of any kind concerning O’Flaherty to attend.

We are conscious that people from outside of Co. Galway may be unable to be at this event. However, as this is envisaged as an on-going project, we would very much welcome people’s thoughts, ideas and suggestions. So, if any of your readers, or indeed contributors, have anything they feel would be worth recording please email jenny.farrell@gmit.ie or my address below. We have no preconceived ideas as to what shape any possible revival of O’Flaherty’s work should take. We simply believe that his writings deserve to be recognised and valued today.
