Turnout for the children’s referendum was as to be expected —- one of the lowest in 16 years.

All-important though the welfare of children is, the slight changes in the new wording of the constitution from the original wording seemed so insignificant as to be misleading to some people.

Certainly, to most it didn’t warrant lashing out over a €1m on a referendum as austerity peaked.
