Orange Order grant

The Government grant of almost €750,000 to the Orange Order to enable them to erect interpretative centres and museums in Belfast and Armagh should be withdrawn.

Any organisation in this State, be it cultural, political or sporting, which practices discrimination on the basis of race, colour or creed should be refused funding until such discrimination is ended.

The Orange Order, which is a bastion of religious and gender discrimination, continues to behave in a manner which in most civilised societies would be a cause of opprobrium.

By its funding of the Orange Order the Irish State is conferring its stamp of approval on discrimination.
