Referendum fears

Further to Victoria White’s accurate piece (Opinion, Nov 1), I would advise people to think very carefully about how they vote in the children’s referendum.

From what I’ve read, heard anecdotally and my own personal experience, I would be very wary of increasing the powers of social workers.

The argument would be made that the final decisions in these “exceptional cases” will be made by the judgment of the courts, but judges are wholly influenced by the social workers’ accounts, however well informed it is.
