Mairéad Scannell (Letters, Oct 23) displays the usual misinformed view of the forthcoming referendum on Children's Rights.

The proposed new article says nothing about education rights; it does enhance children's rights, the State being obliged to vindicate those rights.

The Sinnott case was based on the existing provision which obliges the State to provide for education for the nation’s children, that provision will remain.
