The purposed children’s referendum is seriously flawed on one key ground. The article only provides for “parents” of a “particular child or children”, it does not allow for guardians, who are essentially in loco parentis.

The wording of the referendum is very narrow. There are countless situations where children are abused who are not in their “parents” remit. One can only hope that there is still time left to change this disastrous wording, to stop many children from being outside the purposed Constitutional protection.
