Why do those behind Ireland’s sex ‘trade’ oppose Sweden’s anti-prostitution and trafficking laws?

Because the laws work. Your article, ‘Legislation the only way to end Prostitution’ (Oct 19), shows why we need to ignore the pimps, escort agencies and other vested interests behind a multi-million euro industry and bring in laws targeting the buyers of sex.

Stockholm police say demand has halved since the law there was changed 12 years ago. It works. Now, Ireland needs to follow and take the perpetrators of human rights abuses out of our communities.
