Tax lottery jackpots

On average, the National Lottery pays out €1 million every day in prize money.

To put it another way, that equals more than €1 billion in three years. At the top rate of income tax, the Government could collect nearly €150 million in additional revenue every year.

Lottery winners are not poor millionaires. They have a social obligation to help people who are less fortunate. The prosperity of a few should not mean the poverty of many.

Change the legislation. Tax all Lottery jackpots. In the final analysis, you can’t take it with you. Meanwhile, I’ll keep on doing my quick-pick.
