Shortall should resign

On Wednesday night Róisín Shortall made a speech where she implicitly excoriated Dr James Reilly’s performance on virtually every policy issue currently being examined by the department they share.

Less than an hour later she voted in favour of Dr Reilly’s continuation as minister.

It is clear that Ms Shortall has no confidence whatever in Dr Reilly, in spite of the overwhelming endorsement given by the Dáil to Dr Reilly’s continuation in office. Surely the only honourable thing for her to do is to resign her position? If not, she should be dismissed by the Taoiseach.
