Hitting pensioners

Your recent Opinion column hit the nail on the head (‘Balancing the books/Self Interest becomes Dishonesty’).

Hitting pensioners

Since last year’s budget, pensioners-to-be who did not have enough stamps for a full pension, were told their pensions would be cut. I know a person whose pension will be cut from €115 to €76 a week, and there hasn’t been a whisper from the ‘grey’ brigade.

In a similar fashion, the DAS scheme is being taken from the lowest paid farmers in the west, from Donegal to Kerry, and again the silence was deafening from the IFA and ICMSA.
