Invariably, over my lifetime I and many of us have remarked how the weather always seems to improve just as the children have gone back to school after their summer holidays.

May I suggest the children take a cut in their holidays, say all of August, so we can be sure of fine weather for the farmers during their busiest time; after all, the poor bankers have had to take a cut in their bonuses from €2m to 1€m — I just don’t know how they can survive.
