Rachel Corrie paid the ultimate price

Like your correspondent, Paul Farrell, I too mourn the demise of Rachel Corrie.

Rachel Corrie paid the ultimate price

Rachel is a famous name from the Old Testament and I have always thought it a beautiful name.

Rachel Corrie made a choice to become involved in a very dangerous area and paid the ultimate price. I also mourn the dozens of other Rachels in that area who also paid the same price by being blown to bits while sitting on a school bus, or sitting with their parents or their children in a café in Jerusalem. Their deaths were not accidental as Rachel Corrie’s was, but the work of people who had been educated to believe that to kill others and oneself in cold blood would assure the perpetrator a place in the hereafter, with abundant rewards.
