Cardinal Brady has a bigger flock

Who coined the phrase that Ireland is not a Catholic country for a Catholic people anymore? Pat Rabbitte, Minister For Communications, is not communicating very well with the majority of Ireland’s Catholic population when he uses vitriolic speak to attack the spiritual leader (Cardinal Brady) of Ireland’s Catholic Church.

Cardinal Brady has a bigger flock

He (Mr Rabbitte) claims that the leader of the majority faith in Ireland should not involve himself in the issue of abortion viz-a-viz with the political establishment. When comparing like-with-like, I wish to point out to Mr Rabbitte that Cardinal Brady’s mandate is much broader than his; in fact, one could fairly say that one could throw a “blanket” over the whole of the Labour Party’s representation on this island, while Cardinal Brady and the Catholic Church has a foothold in every constituency.

As the days go by, the political wagons are beginning to circle around Mr Rabbitte, aka Mr Pearse Doherty of Sinn Féin. Surely the electorate are not depending on Mr Pat Rabbitte and his ilk to be our political ayatollahs on this emotive issue? It’s like Pat calling the kettle black. The ‘real’ issue for Ireland and its people going forward is not only a moral one but a human rights one for the unborn as well.
