Tax comment ‘farcical’

I suppose nothing should surprise us anymore but I was a little shocked to see Fergus Finlay (Aug 21) extolling the virtues of Ronan Lyons; admitting that he looks to Mr Lyons’s website as a source of understandable information on matters to do with distributive justice, etc.

Tax comment ‘farcical’

The suggestion that the wealthiest in Ireland pay 40% income tax is farcical.)

Here’s another quote from the Mr Lyons’s website: “The Minister should say: ‘We can either introduce this property tax, or else we will need to raise the lower rate of income tax from 20% to 25%. Both harm disposable incomes, but only one harms the creation of jobs. Which one do you want?’” Would Fergus care to tell us if he sees anything in the slightest bit wrong with his either/or choice?
