No justification for gun comment

I read with disgust the letter you printed by Mr Tierney (Jul 26) which used the tragic murder of a dozen people by a mentally disturbed individual in the US as a justification for an attack on the good name of over 200,000 people in Ireland.

Perhaps he would care to mention by name any licensed firearms owner in Ireland so that we could discuss the matter in front of a court and get a court ruling on behalf of the nation as to whether or not us licensed firearms owners are indeed the scourge of society, as Mr Tierney suggests.
