Anglo endorsements

I am ignorant of the workings of the financial world but, about I was recently asked: “Who are — or were — Anglo Irish Bank?”

I find the internet a useful aid. I thought I might share some of its information with you: In Jan 2007, Oliver Wyman named them as “the best bank in the world” in a report to coincide with the World Economic Forum in Davos. As late as 11 days before nationalisation in 2009, Merrill Lynch said they were “financially sound” (this after receiving a fee over $11m).

Are Wyman and Merrill Lynch any wiser than I? Can we (the State and taxpayers) sue either or both of them for misdirecting us?
