Funds appeal to repair damaged memorial

In the wake of the attack on the memorials in the Limerick cemetery I visited the graveyard and found that damage has been done to the wolfhound at the base of the Manchester Martyrs’ memorial.

This is the second time the monument has been damaged.

We repaired it after the last attack and now we find that even more damage has been done.

We are appealing to the nationally minded people of Limerick and those who have an interest in preserving our historic memorials to contribute to the repairs.

In the coming days we will be obtaining estimates for the work and we hope to have the memorial repaired for the annual ceremony in November to honour Allen, Larkin, and O’Brien, the Manchester Martyrs who died in the cause of Irish freedom.
