McAreavey images - A cruel and callous move

The publication of photographs of the body of Michaela McAreavey in the hotel room where she was murdered is a shocking development and the latest in a series of appalling events surrounding her tragic and untimely death.

The editorial decision to print 12 graphic black and white images of the scene in yesterday’s edition of the Mauritian newspaper Sunday Times has to a serious degree undermined any prospect of bringing her killer or killers to justice.

Adding to the grief of her husband John and the McAreavey and Harte families, the photographs include close-up pictures of Mrs McAreavey’s injuries as she lay in the hotel suite where she was killed on her honeymoon.
