Syrian murders

The pictures emerging from Syria of murdered children have to rank as some of the most disturbing images I have come across from any conflict in recent times.

That is not to deny that similar horrors happen on a continual basis across the globe.

However, to see it so graphically was heartbreaking and begs the question as to what diplomatic agendas can justify prevarication in addressing this situation effectively and not just with impotent threats of diplomatic sanction.

It highlights the fact that the Security Council of the UN has no real accountability and there is no honest rationale from China and Russia on their stance on this issue.

It seems that the application of justice takes second place to ensuring that the status quo is not compromised.
