RTÉ record should not be forgotten

AS a fan of RTÉ radio and television for over 40 years, I am getting fed up listening to RTÉ presenters, constantly apologising for Prime Time Investigates.

Yes, there were huge mistakes made, and Fr Reynolds was treated abominably, and he deserved his apology, and his compensation. However, this was one programme, one mistake by a broadcasting organisation that has broken some of our finest current affairs stories. RTÉ has exposed scandals, both financial and political, in its long and honourable history. I find it laughable watching politicians of all parties lining up to attack the station, considering the mess they have made of our little country.

And by the way, what’s all this ‘RTÉ needs to restore its reputation’ comment? It appears that the only people “worried” about RTÉ’s reputation are the chattering classes.
