Is there a connection between the many-sided attacks on Cardinal Brady and the campaign in favour of the Fiscal Compact Treaty?

The pro-compact alliance reminds me of Rumpelstilskin, feverishly trying to stamp out the only viable competitor to their authority — the Catholic Church.
