Government must act quickly

This country has little hope of recovery, going on the ineptitude of this present Government and the way they make decisions.

Not one of them knows what the other one is thinking or what direction they are going. It is obvious that they are making up things as they go along. It is about time now that Phil Hogan was made walk the plank and go back to where he came from. It is even noticeable that they are trying to keep him in the background again at this late stage in the water debacle, the same as they did when the household charge deadline date was approaching.

I think Enda Kenny is spending too much time touring the world on photo shoots, while everything is in disarray at home in his absence. He seems to spend most of his time laughing and joking when meeting with world leaders, and in the process making a fool of himself and totally bringing down our reputation and bargaining position when there are serious issues being discussed about our future in this country. We are the laughing stock of the rest of the world with his approach. The way he carries on when he meets world leaders is like a bunch of lads meeting up in a pub after winning a match.

He should stay at home and send out someone else with some bit of conviction and purpose that can hold their own with Merkel and Sarkozy. Of course, there is no such person in the cabinet. I thought Eamonn Gilmore was Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade. Why, then, does he not go abroad and do his job?

Of course we would have no hope at all with him, because “Frankfurt’s Way Is Now Labour’s Way”.

It did not take him long to change his colours on his previous stand.

Enda Kenny has spent 14 years in the wilderness. I suppose his attitude is that he wants to live it up now that he has got a chance to do so.

In a few years or sooner he, and the rest of his cabinet, will be able to retire with big lump sums and gold-plated pensions worth up to €3,000 per week, while the rest of us will have to endure the pain they will have inflicted on us at that stage. We will even have to go on the dole at age 65 for a couple of years before we get our pensions under the new retirement age rules they have introduced, but they themselves will not be affected in that way.

In conclusion, the only reason our troika of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Labour want a Yes vote in the upcoming fiscal treaty, is that none of them are capable of striking out a proper deal for this country and they want the easy way out for themselves at our expense and detriment.
