Food for thought

While commemorating the Home Rule Bill of Apr 1912, one would do well to consider if it was as dangerous a recipe as any for insular civil war had not the Great War intervened.

The Ulster Volunteers were armed to the teeth to prevent home rule while the Irish Volunteers armed to enforce it. Until quite recently few nationalists took Ulster unionists’ resolve seriously. Ulster would fight whatever about being right. Food for thought!
